A visit of the town can start from the harbour, overlooked by the Maddalena Bastion and tower; through the Porta a Mare (Gate to the Sea) you can get directly to the Piazza Civica (Main Square).
As you leave the town and travel northward past lido San Giovanni along the road running parallel to the spiaggia di Maria Pia (Maria Pia Beach) , you can reach Fertilia . Continuing on the same road you can visit the spiaggia delle Bombarde and the Cala del Lazzaretto , the latter dominated by the tower of the same name. Two other places are olso really worth visiting: the Grotte di Nettuno (Neptune Grottos) and the Nuraghe Palmavera (Palmavera prehistoric village) .
