    By bike or by car you can explore the protected area of CapoCaccia & Porto Conte, an area when natural forces have been at work for millennia, creating landscapes and biological balances that are unique and unrepeatable.
    It is an area where Man's input has been minimal, where the defining elements are stone, maquis and cliffs.

    The coast road taking you from Alghero to Bosa is a succession of rocky outcrops, inlets and wild vegetation, home to several bird species among which the griffon vulture stands out for its fascination and elegant flight.
    Forty km of unspoilt coastline defined as the most beautiful section of coast in Italy to cycle along by Lonely Planet’s Guide Cycling Italy.

  • Sardinia Grottoes

    The Capo Caccia promontory, with its cliffs reminiscent of a sleeping giant, has become one of the symbols of Alghero, along with the prized red coral. This area is the site of the famous Grottos of Neptune, which can be accessed by the sea or by land (via the famous 656 steps of the Escala del Cabirol). Once inside, Neptune’s Grottos offer a wonderful panorama of pools, as well as strangely shaped stalactites and stalagmites.
    In the promontory is found, moreover, one of the largest subterranean lakes of Europe and other grottoes, totally or partially submerged. Among them is the Grotta di Nereo which was discovered in the 50s and considered the largest submerged marine cave in the Mediterranean. Scuba-divers can still admire walls of rock covered with red coral and really extraordinary marine fauna.

    Sardinian gastronomy varies widely from seafood to meat dishes, cheeses and sweets. There is a wide variety of cheeses amongst which the popular "pecorino sardo". Local hams are widely served as starters. Seafood pasta dishes are a speciality and the most popular are spaghetti alla "bottarga" & "ai frutti di mare". Traditional pasta dishes such as "gnocchetti sardi" and ravioli with ricotta are also a delicious alternative. For your second course, you can choose from roasted suckling pig known as "porcetto" or lamb, a tradition among the shepherds. You can also try many fresh seafood dishes or catalan style lobster which is widely served in Alghero in many of the excellent restaurants.

    Accompany your meal with a bottle of wine. There are many vineyards around Alghero which produce excellent wines. You can visit some of the wine estates around the area. The most important is certainly SELLA&MOSCA, awarded as the best Italian winery of the year 2013 which organize tours through the vineyards with a wine tasting.
    The Torbato vines grow on seafront fields near Alghero. Of ancient Spanish origin, the Torbato grape produces a dry white wine that in the last twenty years has reached international appreciation. It is produced with selected grapes as well in a special version known as Terre Bianche or “White Lands” in addition to a Spumante brut version.
